(3) CLINICIANS + Complimentary CEU's for GROUP: Workshop for CLINICIANS: Couples Work and Why it Matters in Modern Times

As an individual clinician, have you ever wondered how couples therapy could not only enhance your client's relationships but also improve your work together in individual counseling? Many clinicians may not fully understand the role that couples work plays in individual therapy.

Date: Wednesday, October 23rd 2019

Time: 9 am - 4 pm

*** The curriculum is catered to anyone who primarily works with individual clients and would like to gain knowledge and insight on how to collaborate with the couples therapist.

Clinicians will gain a multimedia approach to couples work including: couples therapy tapes, clips from popular movies and various educational sources to gain understanding of the couples therapeutic process and the unique features of modern ‘coupleship.’  Additionally, clinicians will participate in group experiential sessions that will allow them to learn new therapeutic interventions, put themselves in the couples “hot seat” and learn why it is so valuable for individual therapists to be a collaborator in the couple’s therapeutic process rather than perhaps being an unintentional opposing force.

Participants will also explore RLT and PACT based interventions that encourage clients to move towards relational empowerment, deep safety and relational joy.

 Learning Objectives

  • Understand how to collaborate with a couple’s therapist versus being an unintentional opposing force in the couple’s work process and how to refer before crisis.

  • Identify the benefits of Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) and gain a basic understanding of RLT and PACT based therapeutic interventions.
